How to capture a selected area of your screen

Select and capture only part of the screen on Windows, then copy, save or share the resulting image.

Why capture only one region?

A region screenshot focuses attention on the important detail. It also helps keep browser tabs, notifications, account names and other unrelated information outside the final image.

Step-by-step

  1. Open MyPrintScreen and leave it running in the tray.
  2. Press Prt Scr or click the tray icon once.
  3. Click and drag from one corner of the desired area to the opposite corner.
  4. Use the buttons below the selection to copy, save, upload or close.

Tips for a clear capture

Close notifications before capturing, enlarge small text, and include enough surrounding context for the recipient to understand what they are seeing. For support requests, include the complete error message but remove passwords, recovery phrases and personal data.

If you want to paste the result immediately into a document or chat, continue with the clipboard guide.
